Meet the Team

Kimmy McDaniels

Founder / Birth Nurse

Kimmy McDaniels, RN, BSN, CLC founded Florida Birth Movement (FBM) in 2023 with a vision to improve birth outcomes all over Florida. Kimmy is a wife, mom of 3, registered nurse,  trained doula, birth assistant, and lactation counselor with a passion for pregnancy and birth. She is also a former dancer and overall, lover of movement.

Kimmy started dreaming up FBM in 2010 after finishing nursing school at Barry University in Miami and witnessing her God son’s birth. The idea continued to blossom after the birth of her first son in 2017 and subsequent immersive doula course with Sierra Childbirth Institute in California. After relocating to Florida, birthing two more sons and completing a LER lactation consultant certification, FBM found it’s home in Tampa Bay. As a self proclaimed birth nerd and hype woman for new parents, you can find Kimmy supporting families grow at our location in St. Pete, Paloma House.

Kelly

Newborn Nurse

Born and raised in Florida, Kelly is a proud mom of two boys and a registered nurse whose career began in oncology. After becoming a mother, her heart was drawn to supporting moms and newborns during the postpartum period—a season that is as beautiful as it is vulnerable.

As a stay-at-home mom who navigated motherhood without nearby family support, colicky babies, and breastfeeding challenges, Kelly gained firsthand experience in just how overwhelming the newborn phase can feel. Those experiences shaped not only her empathy, but also a deep understanding of what mothers truly need during this time.

Kelly firmly believes in the power of a steady, reassuring presence during the newborn phase—someone who can support both baby and mom with calm, confidence, and compassion. Her passion is helping families feel supported, empowered, and less alone during those early postpartum days.

Kelly met Kimmy during Nursing School and reunited after they both settled in the Tampa Bay area as new moms.

Zoee

Childbirth Education Intern

Zoee Brightwell is currently majoring in Human Development with double minors in Spanish and Public Health at Eckerd College. She grew up in a small town just outside of Jefferson City, Missouri, before moving to St. Petersburg for her undergraduate education.

Her passion for prenatal movement classes and birth education has grown from a combination of academic experiences and the opportunity to witness Kimmy’s genuine love for FBM and her family. It inspired Zoee to learn more about the powerful, positive impact prenatal movement can have during pregnancy.

Movement has always been a meaningful part of Zoee’s life. She is a yoga instructor and can often be found at the gym, running, or playing pickleball. Her philosophy: movement is freeing and building strong, supportive community is essential for healthy relationships and overall well-being.
